the proverbial fool
Nobody likes to be thought a fool, although this may be in part because the word has developed increasingly negative connotations over the past four centuries. I suspect a religious influence. In the Middle Ages, ‘fool’ was another name for the court jester, who was the mediaeval equivalent of a professional comedian, a man whose job it was to make his employer laugh.

Michael Jackson is gone, but definitely not forgotten and his three kids want to ensure that his life's work lives on. The kids, Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 12, and nine-year-old Prince Michael II, who is known as Blanket, also hope to become performers.

Asked what they want to do in the future, Prince Michael said: “I guess continue what our dad was doing.”
Paris added in an interview with Good Morning America which will be broadcast tomorrow: “I’m thinking about auditioning for a play next week.”
Michael’s brother Jackie – who was a member of sibling pop group Jackson 5 alongside the King of Pop –recently revealed his family joke with the children that they need to “get busy” if they want a showbiz career. He said: "I told the kids, 'You better get busy because when we were your age we were selling out concerts.' "
Jackie also said the three children are constantly asking questions about their famous father.
He said: "They are around their father 24 hours a day. They have pictures in the bedroom. They talk about him all the time. They ask me for stories about him. They want to know more about him."

Rihanna and Ciara Make Up After Catfight
Rihanna and Ciara Make Up After Catfight
These two made nice after exchanging some heated words on Twitter (and on TV) this week.

The claws came out between Rihanna and Ciara this week, but it looks like the catfight is over between these singers. Both gals posted apologies on their Twitter pages today after some not-so-nice comments were exchanged earlier this week.
It all started when Ciara dished on RiRi on Fashion Police, saying: "I ran into her recently at a party. She wasn't the nicest," she said. "It's crazy, because I've always loved and respected what she's done in fashion. It wasn't the most pleasant run-in."
After catching wind of the jabs, Rihanna fought back on Twitter. She wrote: "My bad Ci, did I forget to tip you? #Howrudeofme," followed by "You gangsta huh? Ha."
Ciara fought back on Twitter, snapping: "Trust me Rihanna you don't want to see me on or off the stage."
Of course, Rihanna wouldn't let her have the last barb, and replied: "Good luck with bookin that stage you speak of." Burn!
But, Rihanna squashed the fight a little later, offering the olive branch to her fellow singer. "Ciara baby, I love you girl!" she Tweeted. "You hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I'm heartbroken! That's why I retaliated this way! So sorry! Let's make up."
Ciara then wrote back: "Rhi u know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows/everything. you threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Let's chat in person>'
All's well that ends well, right?

Diane Kruger: 'I'm Not Cultured Enough'
Diane Kruger: 'I'm Not Cultured Enough'

Diane Kruger has made it big in her modeling and acting career, but the 34-year-old doesn't feel like she's really learned anything about the world so far in her life. She doesn't think she's "cultured enough" and is now determined to travel and explore more in the next phase of her life.
She said: “Getting older, I realized I didn't know anything. I felt incredibly stupid. I've always been very self-righteous. I've always been like, 'I speak three different languages, I'm so accomplished.' And everyone tells me, 'You're so pretty', and then it was a big realization that I don't understand anything, that I feel like I'm not cultured enough, that I'm stupid sometimes. That's my thing in my thirties. I want to work on 'me' much more."
Diane said it was her desire to explore more of the world which prompted her to take roles such as in Special Forces, which gave her the opportunity to interview female kidnap victims in Gaza and Afghanistan to research her role as a journalist taken by the Taliban. The film was then shot in remote parts of Africa and the Himalayas.
Diane admits she was “horrible to everybody” during making the movie, but said the experience “really changed” her. She added to The Independent newspaper: "I just thought it was fascinating on a personal level. How many times have I been at home, cooking dinner and the TV news is on, and you're like, 'Ugh! Turn this off!' You take for granted that you have access to information.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones had a date at Buckingham Palace yesterday! The actress received a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) from Prince Charles at the royal palace and was joined by her family.
The Welsh actress – who was awarded the accolade for services to the film industry and to charity – was included in the Queen's Birthday Honors list last year and traveled to Buckingham Palace to pick up the prestigious honor today.
Accompanied by her 61-year-old husband Michael Douglas - who was recently treated for throat cancer - and the couple's two children Dylan, 10, and seven-year-old Carys, Catherine beamed as she was awarded the honour by the monarch’s son.
When the announcement of the accolade was made last year, the 41-year-old actress admitted she was "humbled and thrilled" to have been given the award. She said: "I am absolutely thrilled with this honor. As a British subject, I feel incredibly proud, at the same time it is overwhelming and humbling. And my mum and dad are delighted beyond belief."
Catherine shot to fame after starring in British TV drama The Darling Buds of May in 1991 before moving to the US, where she got her big breakthrough playing Elena Montero in The Mask Of Zorro in 1998. However, her biggest success came in 2002 when she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Velma Kelly in the film adaptation of Chicago.

Kevin Costner: I Pray I Live Long Enough to Raise My Children

Kevin Costner took a break from making movies to look after Cayden, three, Hayes, two, and Grace, eight months, his kids with second wife Christina Baumgartner. And he loves being around to see them progress through life.
He said: “They’re really good children and I see them making steps every day. The one thing I pray for in life is not success, but being able to raise my children and that nothing happens to me in the next 20 years.
“I want it to be me who tells them about the secrets, the beauty, the treachery and everything that is in life. I don’t want them to learn from someone else.”
Kevin -- who also has 26-year-old Annie, 24-year-old Lily and Joe, 22, with ex-wife Cindy Silva, as well as son Liam, 14, from a brief romance with Bridget Rooney -- feels “lucky” in his life and thinks he has been given more than he needs.
He explained: “I’ve had enormous good luck. I have too much. I have the health of my children, I’ve had worldwide fame, I have a lot.
“When I travel the world, I see that people have very little and I don’t need everything I have.”

Sharon Stone Weighs in on Lindsay Lohan's Recent Woes
Sharon Stone Weighs in on Lindsay Lohan's Recent Woes
Sharon says her former co-star needs "some actual health care" to overcome her troubles.

Sharon Stone worked with Lindsay Lohan in 2006 on the flick Bobby, and is now weighing in on the starlet's legal and personal woes. Sharon says she doesn't have any advice for LiLo, per se, but hopes she gets the health care she needs to get better.
Sharon said: “I don't think it's a question of her youth. But it’s a question of the fact she clearly needs some actual health care. And I think perhaps because of her position, it's very difficult for the legal system to give her the actual practical care that she needs. I would not try to give her advice. I would just wish that there is a way that the system can somehow provide her with the actual health care that she needs.”
The Basic Instinct beauty believes the fact her own career took off later in life meant she never had to deal with the problems a new generation of young stars have. Speaking on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight TV show, Sharon said: “I think that's a really much more complex and difficult thing than what happened to me when I became famous when I was 32. So I was a grounded adult ... I had such dear, good friends who really guided me. Friends in the entertainment business.”
A number of stars have given advice to Lindsay – who is currently facing jail over the alleged theft of a necklace while on probation – including troubled actor Charlie Sheen and former drug addict Christian Slater who revealed he “reached out” to the young beauty. He said: "Addiction is not pretty and you don't fully understand it unless you're dealing with it head-on. That's why when I see other kids struggling, I will sometimes reach out to them - a call or an email."
