RIP Gary Moore
There's no way I could pay tribute to someone I loved so much, as beautifully as the reactions I'm seeing all over the world.
He will truly be missed...
Born in Belfast, Moore was influenced by the late-sixties boom of electric guitar heroes, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and (most of all) Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green. Moore formed the blues group Skid Row (not to be confused with the eighties glam metal outfit) with vocalist Phil Lynott in 1968. Lynott would later form the rock group Thin Lizzy, with whom Moore played on numerous separate occasions. In addition to his numerous guest appearances, Moore released a long string of highly influential solo albums throughout the eighties and nineties, ranking high on countless best guitarists lists and influencing aspiring axe-men with his underrated soloing and compositional skills.
